Happy Anniversary to Us!
What a whirlwind year this has been! How on Earth could it be our 2nd Anniversary!?? Sharon, Tammi, Rebecca and I would like to thank you – from the bottoms of our hearts for your patronage, support and friendship. We are so grateful to have met so many crafters and are blessed to be included in your memory-making. Kinda funny, huh, that our anniversary is on MEMORIAL Day…..
Before I forget – insert drumroll - from the list of folks who spent at least $25 last month, we drew a name to select a crafter who will be treated to a $100 gift certificate at You’re So Crafty! And the winner was……………. CHRIS MATA!!!!! Congratulations to Chris, who’s a dedicated crafter and who works at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center. In honor of our 2nd Anniversary, we’re going to hold another drawing in May… so be sure to stop in. No need to fill anything out, just make sure we have your name on your receipt and we’ll do all the ‘work’ at the end of the month.
Speaking of receipts - have you looked at yours lately? There a nifty coupon right at the bottom. It will help you save some crafty cash each time you visit the store! Check it out … I’m not going to tell you what it is! This time, you do the work!

Paws in Prison fundraiser -
Decorate a Dog contest
Thunderpaws Canine Solutions and You’re So Crafty are puttin’ on the dog to help out the Paws in Prison program, which pairs shelter dogs with women at the Lockhart Women’s Facility to learning training and grooming techniques so the dogs may be eventually adopted by loving families. The gals at Thunderpaws work closely with this program and approached us to participate in this unique fundraiser. Pick up a dog at You’re So Crafty or Thunderpaws, decorate it (at the shop or in your own craft room) and turn it in at the May 21 Reception at Thunderpaws, 206 S. Austin St. We’ll have judging, a silent auction and food catered by Craig’s Saute and Grill. It’ll be great fun and it’s woofy, er worthy cause.

Meerrrry Christmas Crafting!

WOW!!!! WOW!!!! WOW!!!! When I saw these papers on my monitor, I gasped. But when I saw these papers at You’re So Crafty, I almost cried! These are high-quality, double-sided papers – some of them are embossed with metallic bits that just put that finishing touch on them. If you were looking for something that definitely stands out from the crowd – this is it. We also have a limited supply of the word kits – Noel, Joy and Faith - ready for an instant last-minute gift.

This set has some very cool wintry clear stamps and many of them could be lovely on any occasion.
Meanwhile, you have to see these hand-crafted Santa ornaments in person! Wirewrapping teacher Anita Elliott scuplted these tiny little heads and they are something to behold:

We’ll be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and closed for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day – but we’ll be around the rest of the time – Noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. We’re hard at work on the January and February calendars with some of the old favorites and lots of new sure-to-be-favorite classes.
We wish you all the blessings of the season and the merriest of Christmases. Enjoy your time with your friends and family and make this a Christmas to remember!
See you soon!
Dana, Sharon, Courtney, Tammi and Katie

National Day of Listening
Although scrapbooking is primarily a visual way to remember events, people and activities; StoryCorps is sponsoring the National Day of Listening on Thanksgiving. StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit project whose mission is to honor and celebrate one another’s lives through listening.
From their site: “This Thanksgiving, StoryCorps asks you to start a new holiday tradition—set aside one hour on Friday, November 28th, to record a conversation with someone important to you. You can interview anyone you choose: an older relative, a friend, a teacher, or a familiar face from the neighborhood.
You can preserve the interview using recording equipment readily available in most homes, such as tape recorders, computers, video cameras or a pen and paper. Our free Do-It-Yourself Guide is easy to use and will prepare you and your interview partner to record a memorable conversation, no matter which method of recording you prefer.
We hope that you’ll make a yearly tradition of listening to and preserving a loved one’s story. The stories you collect will surely become treasured keepsakes, growing more valuable with each passing generation.“
An idea for your scrapbooks – you can use excerpts from these stories as the journaling on your pages! Or include a copy of the CD with your page.
Class Reminders – Advanced Wire Wrapping (see pix below), Quilting, Candle Stamping, Holiday Cards and more!
And, join us for weekday late nights this holiday season - for shopping, or working on projects in our workshop. Our holiday hours are Monday through Friday, 1 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is so important – Orphan Works Bill
From my friend Margot Potter’s blog (she’s so eloquent! and crafty, too!) –
“Oh and while our attention is diverted, some powerful folks who want absolute access to every piece of art, photo or video ever posted on the internet are trying to hijack your art. Yup, they pushed Orphan Works through the Senate under cover of night and now they’re rushing it through the House. Call your representative and tell them that you will not stand for this rape and pillage of the creative output of artists, videographers and photographers. Watch this video. Embed it. Spread the word. Do it NOW! It does matter. It is important. We have to act. We have the right to own our art and no one has the right to profit from our creativity without fair compensation and due credit. Yeah, they really do think we’re that dumb. If they pass this law, anyone who wants to use any art, photography or video you’ve ever posted online for anything they choose, will be free to do so.”
And, in listening to this audio clip, I learned that you will have to PAY to protect your work. Every single doodle mark you make is fair game. This is big, folks. Seriously big.

OMG – we’ve been blogged about!
How exciting!!! I’ve been reading the Seguin (TX) Photo Blog for a while after stumbling on it by searching online for “stuff” about our community. She’s tagged in my Bloglines subscription (LOVE bloglines! – it keeps you major-updated on blog updates with one click) Anyway, back to the point, I clicked today to see what photos she’s posted and WOW! There we were!!
I must say, it was quite exciting! Although a photo always captures stuff you *may* not want to focus on (weeds, flowers that are frying in the hot summer, kinda funky parking lot), it was very cool to see her expert shots and read her very kind words.
Thanks Thien! See you soon! Now go craft something!
